$2,000 stimulus payment: Is the fourth check from the economic aid package real or fake?

Share

In recent months, there have been numerous rumors about the alleged delivery of a fourth stimulus check for $2,000 dollars during 2025.

The speculation, spread mainly on social media and unverified websites, has raised expectations among millions of Americans who are struggling economically due to the rising cost of living.

No news from Congress or the IRS

Despite growing interest, neither the United States Congress nor the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has approved a new round of direct payments.

Any news that promises immediate payments should be taken with caution, as it is often misinformation or even attempted fraud.

If a new aid package were to be approved, the requirements would likely follow similar criteria to previous payments: individual income of less than $75,000 or up to $150,000 for couples filing jointly.

Payments would gradually decrease for those who exceed these incomes and would be excluded for those who earn more than $99,000 (or $198,000 for a childless couple).

Recipients of Social SecuritySSI or SSDI, as well as railroad retirees, would be among the possible automatic recipients of this payment as occurred in previous stimulus.

There is no official date for the possible start of payments. However, if approved, funds could begin to be distributed in late 2025 or early 2026, via direct deposit, physical checks or prepaid cards.

For now, the $2,000 stimulus check remains just a proposal under discussion. No concrete legislation has been passed.

To avoid falling victim to fraud, it is recommended to consult only official sources such as irs.gov, and never share personal information with unverified sources.
